Crysis DX9 V DX10 Hunter

The DX10 version looks a fair bit better though. Makes you wonder how much of that can't be achieved in DX9 though. Wouldn't surprise me if they cut certain bits out of the DX9 version just to make the DX10 version look more impressive ;)

agreed, can't believe for 1 second that the only variable there is the version of Direct X being applied. If the DX9 version features no smoke and no per pixel lighting then I smell a rat.

The jungle comparison scene is far better at displaying the difference between DX9 and DX10. The DX10 version looks astonishing!

sorry but that video of the 'hunter' in DX9 is ******** - its clearly been toned down as it were - DX9 is capable of more than that - we have seen better lighting in Oblivion and Stalker - its a media hype - although DX10 does look fantastic, DX9 wont be as far behined as these guys (those who want ALL your money) will have you believe.

No swearing

In the hunter video the flames looked noticeably nicer with other lighting effects but what stood out most was the fact the flames did not move when the hunter screamed in DX9, in DX10 they move as if they was being blown by the hunter while screaming.

The game looks nice in both versions so not really much to worry about :D

Seen the jungle one before, as for the hunter one i like the way the smoke moves when it roared, as for the rest of it are we truly ment to believe that dx9 cant do rain effects ?

The jungle one is much better. The lighting in dx9 isnt as good and thats the only difference apart from the so free aa that dx10 gives?

I think Microsoft need to up there payments to Crytek if they want more people to buy vista :p

I think the DX9 version looks alright, it might not be a case of DX9 can or can't do it but can it do it without destroying the frame rate? that is what is important. If it can't then they could then decide to put in some inferior DX9 version or just chop it of all together.

This is Crysis we are talking about. Go buy a new graphics card if you don't like it.

Unless EA have some secret deal with MS going on then they wouldn't do it on purpose. Why do EA care if you have Vista?

It's in Microsoft best interest that it looks better in dx10,I'm sure money has been spent to make sure there will be a noticeable difference when it's released

sorry sarcasm doesn't show well on a forum but I was just trying to make the point that the game is being published by EA. EA don't have anything to do with graphics card companies or MS who make Vista so although conspiracies are fun, is it really the case?

This game does look amazing though. cannot wait.

I'm just trying to say it's possible that Microsoft could talk to EA about making sure it looks a lot better on dx10 so it boots vista sales . It's not that hard to understand ? :D

DX 10 will not bring a hugely noticeable gap in terms of image quality over DX9 - certainly not like DX 9 was over DX8

Sure it can do some stuff which DX9 cannot, like amazing per pixel lighting, volumetric smoke and the ability to render HUGE amounts more objects onscreen at once - however the main thing about DX10 is the fact that it is a much more streamlined architecture.

They should (in theory) be able to get the kind of graphics seen at the very top end DX9 engines able to run smoothly on lesser hardware.

However drivers aren't too good at the moment, plus no game has been specifically developed for DX 10 so they are all a bit chuggy at present
