Crysis - I'm confused.

Good grief...

Well, the original ended on a cliffhanger, the second one just skips ahead..
What the hell happened... Of course it's to pander to the console narbs, I wanted an actual sequel, that would follow on where 1 left off, going back to the Island....

I mean, they've still not explained about Prophet gaining the ability to reverse engineer a weapon etc etc.

Yes it left a lot of unanswered questions, and maybe they'd have been better off trying to answer some of those in Warhead, rather than just following Psycho. It's an FPS though - I tend not to worry that much about FPS storylines as long as they can hold the levels together with some sense of coherence.

Can you imagine another game based on the same island though? Really? At least moving away from there gives them the chance to try something fresh. I don't think that's pandering to anyone other than the critics who would give it a battering for rehashing the same game if they went down the island route again.

It wouldn't be the same though.
Those Aliens seem to have the tendancy to freeze everything, given the invasion, it's be a frozen jungle.
I don't agree with changing the aliens to humanoids either.. What's the point? They're aliens...

For all we know the missing time between Crysis and Crysis 2 may well be explained during various exposition, or even "flash back" missions. I would prefer to be part of those events, but I am also quite happy to have a change of scenery. Jungle is cool, but I want to see what Crytek can do with urban environments.

Upcoming science fiction shooter Crysis 2 will unravel some of the mysteries left dangling at the end of 2007 FPS Crysis, Crytek has teased.

Crysis 2, set three years after the events of the first game and standalone expansion Crysis Warhead, sees players muck about in a ravaged New York City under assault by an alien invasion – a far cry from Crysis' open sandbox jungle setting.

"There is a continuation of the Crysis 1 story and some flashbacks to some Crysis 1 information," executive producer Nathan Camarillo told Will Porter for Eurogamer.

"If you're new to the Crysis universe you won't be lost and you'll understand there's a deeper fiction there and maybe you'll want to go back and play Crysis 1 as a result.

"But if you played Crysis 1 it'll reveal some of the mysterious to you and give you more information about them, some of the characters from Crysis 1 and events that happened and why they happened.

"It's actually really cool how it all plays together. But that's for you guys to experience when the game comes out."

One question we're keen to answer is whether British SAS Sergeant Michael "Psycho" Sykes, star of Crysis Warhead, makes an appearance.

"You'll find out," is all Camarillo offered.

Crysis 1 was awesome. Truly great for it's time. But it wasn't strictly a 'gung-ho' shooter. I was stealth for most of it lol! The end also has aliens flying over the carrier toward somewhere else... I doubt they really pictured Crysis 2 at that point.

Crysis 2 should be more fun but I am bit worried that an XBOX can run it. Hopefully this won't mean a crap game for PC.

Another thing is that people shouldn't expect the MP to be truly polished. They never are. But they get there. Take BC2 for example.... buggy as hell when it first came out and not, after taking a year break, I have just come back to perfection. Well, almost

Looking forward to this :)

Actually you could be quite gung-ho for a lot of Crysis. There are times, of course, that going in all guns blazing just wont work! :p

In the end, I found Crysis quite amenable to various play styles. I like creeping through jungles, but now and then I like to go ape-****! :D

Crysis on Delta difficulty forces you to be sneaky. The enemies are much more accurate, you can't take much damage, and you do less damage too.

The gung-ho play styles are really only possible on the lower difficulty levels.

This is very true.
Why can't people see this?

To expand what I said, I'm currently re-playing Crysis on Delta, and I'm spending about 90% of my time cloaked, or lying down hidden. If an alarm goes off I stand no-chance. You can't even man one of the static machine guns for more than a second or two without being shot to pieces. Also the enemies aren't highlighted on your visor like they are on the lower levels, so it's a lot harder to see them when they're in cover.

I'm now actively avoiding the patrols and trying to sneak in covertly into camps to complete objectives. It's a completely different play experience to when I played through on normal, but can be frustrating because you die so easily.

It IS exciting though. I tripped an alarm in a camp after I snuck in to get some intel, so I had to make a break for it. I jumped over a barrier using maximum strength, got in a vehicle and hightailed it out of there, crashing through a plantation and trees while being shot at left right and centre, before bailing out before the truck fell off a cliff into a river. It was EPIC.

Delta difficulty was one of the best things about Crysis. They scaled the A.I. perfectly. It was a much better game on Delta.

on Delta some of the alien parts were pretty touch and go, since those alien troopers tore you to shreds if they go close on Delta! problem with the Koreans, on all difficulties is they were human, they fought in 'normal' ways with normal guns. I found the later stage of the game (Paradise Lost, etc.) more interesting due to the change in how your enemies behaved, you no longer had a bunch of Korean blokes running around with AK-47s, you had weird alien dudes lunging at you from no-where and brutally murdering you in hand to hand combat! think it was perfect to be honest, the start of the game fighting the Koreans was great, it escalated and the tank level was one of the best. loved sneaking around the jungles and later the rice fields evading Koreans, then the whole feel of the game changed toward the end, the Core level was eerie to say the least and can be challanging on Delta with those ice firing beasties flying around at breakneck speeds! the level after Core was good too, since those alien squiddies do a bucket load of damage with those MOACs, still can't understand why people hate the alien parts, the game would have been bland if it was all just fighting 'traditional' Koreans all the time...?

one of the hardest parts of the game for me on Delta was the graveyard exfiltration, those nano-suit wearing Koreans are absolutely lethal! eventually went crashing into the graveyard in a jeep and went nuts with the mounted machinegun, that did the trick! :D

I played it on easy and found some parts impossibly difficult, mostly due to a real lack of bullet registration (either that, or the enemies just had too much health) - killing the Koreans just became a huge chore.

When it came to infiltrating the Island, I spent hours trying different routes and methods but there just isn't enough energy to keep you cloaked for long enough to even get close. I ended up finding an unlimited energy cheat - at this point the game actually became enjoyable. I think if the enemies actually died when you shot them, this probably wouldn't have been necessary.

I have no idea what you mean about bullet registration - I found it pretty easy to hit and take enemies down. Many of the koreans wear body armour so hitting them in the body can take a few hits - but catching them surprised when they aren't moving around, or shooting in the head is usually a one shot kill. Or getting in close with the shotgun.

The cloak was fine - the trick is to drop prone when it runs out, behind some cover or in vegetation, and start moving again when cloak recovers. Some places look impossible to approach in cloak, but there is usually a way if you scout around.

He means "I'm used to playing COD" :p

Don't tell me you also happen to be playing Black Ops please.
