Bear in mind these are only estimates, but the system requirements to run Crysis on 'Ultra High' have been released. These do seem fairly credible, as the requirements were stated by Cervat Yerli in an interview with GamesRadar. Anyway, here's the link.

Essentially, the requirements are:

CPU: E6600 Core 2 Duo
Graphics: Nvidia 8800GTS
RAM: 2GB

Seems that this isn't as demanding as first thought, though this game has been highly optimized.

I thought the ultra high settings were for systems that don't yet exist so it will still be an impressive engine in the future?

Meh, tis all guesswork anyway atm

Well tbh, I don't think Crysis will be as demanding as people expect.

a lot of people are like "Oh I'm going to wait until Crysis comes out then upgrade to <insert top-end hardwere here>" as if they think Crysis will require that...

But really, they'd have to be an incredibly silly games company to make a game that only works on top-end hardware - something which a very small percentage of the pc gaming market actually have!

So I think we should be expecting this to run on a 7600, maybe even a 6600 - I think that's a pretty mid-range card and a lot of gamers who aren't hardware enthusiasts will be running that. I know a lot of people who have rubbish hardware but play a lot of PC games, and they happily spend £30 on a good game - that's who EA are going to want to sell to!

Maybe not "Ultra High" though as they did promise to bring any system to a crawl ;) But an 8800GTS would be more than enough for pretty awesome graphics, I bet :D

Saying that, I am upgrading to a 7900 because I'm fed up with jaggies :p

Might implement additional stuff, didnt HDR come around later on?

Well i hope that this is true. The spec seems a bit low to what id have expected. But still, if true it means i only need to upgrade my GPU to be able to play at Ultra High. I was planning on doing this anyway.

I can believe those specs.

There again, I also wouldn't be surprised if they were higher. I'm just playing through Far Cry again on my pretty flash rig (E4300, 1GB RAM, 7900GS) and I managed to drop it to 12 fps at one point earlier.

If I can have something like medium textures and polygons but have all the special effects on such as motion blur, depth of field, HDR and etc, that will probably be good enough for me.

How'd you manage that?

was gonna say, the ultra req spec will prob get you 15-30fps average, maybe a little over i would have thought, specially with that 20klm veiw distance.

i personally think even my rig will struggle with 1600x1200. not long to wait anyway :D

might even have to upgrade to a quad core just to get that extra 10 or so fps out of dx10 multi core compliant games such as crysis.

Don't believe it, last time in an interview some of the makers said it was playable on a 1900xt on mid-high settings...

EDIT: oh, ultra high requirements, DOH, I think its accurate.

On the pier level (level 4), after you clear out the base where you have to blow up the armoury, you'd normally head to the right of the base and get in a truck and head off down the path, but there is another path off to the left of the base, past where all the mercs targets are. If you go down there, there is a whole pile of barrels and explosive stuff. I shot some of that up and while all the barrels were flying around it started to seriously chug...

I'm not sure, but that area may only be accessible in the added 64bit content.

sounds about right, seen as the game seesm to have been built and run around the 8800's and many of the videos we've seen have said they are running on a single 8800gtx. Infact the 8800 launch event had crysis running on them. I have no doubt that the game will run very competently on these cards.
