Hey People

I am new to the forum and i am an Overclockers Virgin :o, never ordered anything from them

I was going to order the Ultima Vanquish in January and was wondering if it can play games like Crysis and MW2 with full AA etc

I was going to start with the GTX 260 gfx card and when the new Nvidia cards come out, the DX11 ones i will replace it but as a stucture for upcoming hardware is the Ultima Vanquish a good PC and i was told that overclocking the Core I7 920 above 3.6 makes it unstable, is this true or nonsense?

Looking forward to your advice

Lee

Depends on what screen size you will be using it with. It should run both Crysis and MW2 (definitely MW2) at full.

Whilst it'll handle Crysis fairly well at your res, you won't be able to pile on the AA. You'll get away with the inbuilt Edge Detect AA, but generic AA in Crysis beats down even very-high-end rigs.

Ah really?

Damn.. even with the updated graphics card?

The reason i ask about Crysis is because i love games with lot's of physics such as Batman Arkham Asylum, i know Crysis has the highest load on computers so if it will run Crysis it should run other games? or am i in the wrong here? :)

Thanks for the info :)

We don't know yet, as they aren't released ;)

But certainly not with a GTX260, unless you lower other ingame settings - which kind of defies the point. To be honest, the ingame edge detect works fairly well, and barely affects framerate :)

I ran Crysis with full settings and edgeAA at 1920x1200 on a GTX280, but with even just 2xAA things started getting chugtastic.

If it'll run crysis it will run anything yes, but you have to understand that crysis is very poorly optimised, or in other words it takes an aweful lot more processing power to achieve the same graphics as if it was much better optimised, so yes if you can run crysis you can more than run anything, especially something like batman which i think runs pretty well on the PC. At the same time its not neccessarily worth worrying about whether you can run crysis on max because it so badly optimised that im not sure anything on the market today can give you 60fps with 16x AA and all maxed

Ah i see.. does edge AA remove all the blockiness at long distances? even so as long as it will play the majority of games maxed out without any fps issues such as Mirrors Edge and Dragon Age / Batman with High PhysX i will be happy

I will be staying on 1680 x 1050 for a while so hopefully it will be fine :)

Thanks for the feedback people :)

my 8800GT and E6300 at stock runs dragon aged max with 2x AA, that PC will absoultely annihilate dragon age and other recently released games e.g. MW2 which my PC also runs at max with 4x AA

Ah great, thanks for the info mate :)

Can't wait till january now , i am also going to be buying the Razer Deathadder or the Razer Lachesis mouse,

Any people tried both of these? what's the best :)

Asking for all the info now lol

What makes you think crysis is very poorly optimised

Name a game that looks as good as crysis does with max detail settings and rans much faster ??

Interesting then how such a minute graphical improvement over something like far cry 2 (insert other games here) causes such a riduculos bump in hardware? or the fact that AA absolutely destroys your fps no matter what? I get around 40% more fps in crysis warhead on the same settings for example.
