Hey folks

Got a vintage 2012 build here, 3770k at 4.5GHz etc

Got it with 16GB and use it for Photoshop and HD video editing but was wondering if Id see any worth in upgrading to 32GB now.

Reason I ask is that I run CrashPlan which takes up about around a gig (for some reason to hold the state of the 8TB of files on my system and cloud).

Im running about 9GB free with Windows and drivers loaded etc.

Corsair XMS3 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX16GX3M2A1600C11)

Is what I have at present on my Gigabyte board, are these still around or would mixing and matching be ok half a decade down the road?

Thanks folks:)

Rikki

Ideal - I see 5 years down the road OC still sell the same stuff - though its over 25% dearer! LOL

Will I have to muck around with any voltage settings etc as Im overclocking the CPU from 3.5ghz to 4.5ghz?

Thanks!

You have kind of answered your own question, if you have 9GB free with Windows drivers loaded etc then maybe stick with 16GB.

However if your memory is going below a couple of 2GB free then I would consider upgrading.
