Curry’s still selling 2019 QLEDS

Why would anyone actually buy it for that price though?

They said it has been happening a lot lately - exercise equipment, games consoles, TVs, etc. people trying to buy up all the stock of popular stuff then resell - it was passing conversation so don't have much detail.

I know it happens with consoles, but who really wants to pay Joe blogs on ebay 4 grand for a TV? Saying that I can't understand paying overs for anything, consoles or gpus. If everybody thought the same there wouldn't be scalpers taking all the stock.

Exercise equipment is different because everything literally sold out everywhere.

With TV's there is just too much competition.

Same with consoles is the fact it's a new next gen launch. They have always sold out and sold for more to desperate people who can't wait a while.

My point is if I started buying up all the Samsung Q80T. Then had them on eBay for double the price. People would just start buying the Samsung Q90T or Sony XH90 or Sony XH95 or LG OLED's.

If I buy up all the lg oled then people will buy oled from Sony or Panasonic, etc.

You cannot just double the price of a TV and shove it on eBay. Well you can but I can't see how it would sell unless you literally bought every TV out there. Which would be impossible.

So it would be interesting to know the exact model. Because it doesn't seem feasible at all to do it.

FYI I made like £15k selling gym equipment on eBay in April last year that I'd paid £3k for years before. That was easy because all the gyms had closed and people had zero other option.

I was selling a pair of dumbbells for over £300 each lol. I think I paid around £750 for the full set so selling 2 broke even the rest was pure profit and I had like 17-20 pairs to sell.

Do you think the general public will know which model they are buying? The target audience who shop at currys are generally your normal boys and girls off the street who wouldn't know the difference between the models and as long as they see something big and bright they would be interested in it.
Pretty much this. However credit to them they often have some awesome deals with vouchers and the like. Just gotta look out for them. Not seen many since lockdown though tbf

15k? FIFTEEN?! Wow... I knew when I couldn't buy anything someone somewhere made bank selling their old stuff haha

It was ridiculous - I bought a treadmill not long before lockdown and could have easily sold it last April for 3x what I paid for it. Even with a fairly small setup I could have made 2 grand selling my exercise equipment second hand over what I paid new :( but then I wouldn't have had any of it to use so :s

If you go look at the official home gym building thread and see who created it I don't think you should be surprised.

I had a full commercial setup at home. Majority of which bought second hand so that I'd always never lose money on the majority of it come resell time but the fact prices went to 10 times the going rate was fantastic.

I had a few guys come up to me to collect who were obviously desperate and they were like you must be making a packet.

I ended up re investing £5k into 2 bikes and a full top of the range wahoo kicker set up. So it's not as if I completely ditched exercise.

I still have a treadmill, commercial incline, decline bench with preacher and leg developer attachment.

I also sold circa £2k worth of equipment the year before for £400. So I lost big time on those had I kept them I bet I could have made another £5k.

I plan on in a couple of years rebuilding the setup with a different focus. More into a CrossFit type approach than powerlifting and bodybuilding.

Exactly my point. Who buys tvs at such a price.

Tbh it's getting like the phone market for me now. I'll look the the £1000 new sony phone, wait 6 months for the new one to come out then last 6 months model is like 200 quid mint condition on auction site haha.

I had my Sony TV for £500 off the last year price. However oled don't seem to go down as quick for some reason

I'd guess they sell less oleds than lcds.

You really should look at Xiaomi.

They sell flagship killer phones for £170-£220.

Just got the father in law a Poco X3 NFC brand new for £170.

The spec is a avoid as my £300 Poco f2 pro.

Poco F3 is launching and at launch it has a special one day only limited unit launch price of £220. The spec is ridiculous.

Anyone buying Samsung, Sony, etc is just setting fire to money.
