Custard Creams

Same with a lot of stuff from Aldi/Lidl lot cheaper and great quality, Asda/Tesco etc. are a con they make you think you are saving money but you are not most of the time, places like Home Bargains is great for non perishable foods.

Bourbons are the same, infact in my local Tesco there are 3 levels of quality for Bourbons......Branded, Tesco premuim OEM and Tesco value OEM.

I always buy the value one's as they are much cheaper and you get twice as much!

My health is probably suffering in some way tho?

I have nothing of value to add to this post but you have the best sig I've ever seen!:D

Are you kidding me? Branson beans are disgusting. They are also cheap so are skimping.

Heinz are the best beans.

Philistine! I was a Heinz fan most of my life until someone showed me the light. They taste cheap and watered down after Branston - and if I have to slum it I go with HP over Heinz :p

I rememember when I did some IT support for a company that ran flour mills. I went into one of these mills to rebuild a machine, and noticed the large flat pack branded and non-branded packets in a store-room.
A mill floor employee then informed me that the only difference between the number of brands of flour that left the building was the packaging.
Chances are the biscuits are the same, come from the same factory, and just have a cheaper wrapper and lower overheads, so can be sold cheaply :)

I fancied some custard creams and saw a pack of branded ones for £1.99 and an even bigger value pack for 29p - personally ive always been against the value smart price stuff etc, but thought screw it im going to try these, so I bought the value pack and seriously, there is actually no difference.

Just think of the ammount of money I could have saved over the years if I just tried it earlier!

Just thought I would share this fountain of knowledge with the fellow OCUK community

I don't care about the savings (within reason) when it comes to food, I go for what tastes the best!

And having tried virtually ALL custard cream brands out there it is my opinion that Lidl's Tower Gate brand of custard cream biscuit has the finest taste. It's not too sweet, not too brittle, not too sloppy when dipped in tea. It is just right.

The bonus is that Tower Gate big packs cost 32p each :)

Tesco does some gorgeous value shortbread, tastes better than some of the expensive branded Scottish ones!

Someone else knows this glorious fact! Yes!!

And for the record, Sainsbury's standard beans > Heinz.

I LIKE THE JUICE, OKAY?!

:D

And Branston aren't even on the scale, they're awful!
