Looking at replacing my current computer desk with a new one, I know a lot of people go the worktop route but I can not find one deep enough that is not laugh out loud money.

So was looking at using MDF to make the desk, nip over to one of the big sheds and get them to cut me some 18mm MDF my plan is to use the existing legs and support from my current desk for the new MDF top and then put batons on the end walls to support it there.

The question is what is the best way to paint/cover the MDF if I go down that route?

Unless very well supported 18mm will sag . i used some 22mm and doubled it up . Very solid and maybe abit ott but cheap and easy .

B&Q doing Spruce plywood for £25 for a big sheet, so going to go with that, should have a bit more longevity than MDF
