After reading GordyR's thread (Sticky), I was looking at taking upon myself the Cyclical Ketogenic Diet.

Since breaking my leg I've put on quite a few extra pounds but plan on getting back into my weight lifting so thought this might be a good place to start to help shed the weight yet retain muscle mass.

I've done a fair amount of research on this but was wondering if anyone else has done this and what kind of food they were eating during the low carb days?

I'm also looking for someone to give me a quick guide on what foods would be good as I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to these kinds of things!

Cheers in advance!

SentineL-X you wouldn't mind giving me an idea of what this diet is about please?

I'm currently cutting using a high protein, low carbs diet but looking for something which allows me a bit of give and take.

Thanks

try pulse cycling carbs.
workout how many calories you need a week, then divide by 7. that gives you a basic calorie intake.
then, if you workout 3 days, add some calories to those 3 days while taking them away from the 4 off days.
On your off days, have your diet set so that the carbs are taken in early.

build your diet around that, will allow you quite a bit of variation while keeping the calories and carbs being taken in when really needed.

a quick example. a person who is cutting on 2000 calories a day trains 3 days a week (mon/weds/fri):

2000 x 7 days = 14000 calories

now, pulse it a bit:

monday - 2300
tuesday - 1800
weds - 2300
thurs - 1800
fri - 2300
sat - 1800
sun - 1700
total - 14000 kcal
