Hi,

I'm experiencing an issue and I'm not sure whether it's the router or ISP at fault and was wondering if any of you could shed any light on the matter. It's an 8Meg line through a D-Link 504 DSL Router. Two people on the network.

I usually synch up at either 5660 or 5842 (something like that anyway.) Upload is always 576. More and more frequently when I get home from work I find that the internet access is incredibly slow. When I check the line status on the web console for the router it shows a synch speed of 3742/128. In reality it feels less than 56k modem speeds. Solution is to get the router to retrain the line - works 100% and resynchs at >5500.

Why is this? Could my housemate who has recently worked out how to use torrents be overloading the router with connections? It has happened when no one has left their computer on during the day though. Is the router playing up or should I take it up as a technical fault with the line with my ISP?

Cheers for any clues.
