D-link Dl-524 change private address and error message

Hi folks

I have got Dl-524 I tried to change the default ip address from 192.168.0.1 to 172.17.0.1/16, but message poped up :

The reason that I have changed ip address because I would like to have VPN connection between site to site and one site has already nework address of 192.168.0.x/24.

Although without even knowing the reason I should have been able to change the private ip address to whatever other private that ,,,,Shouldn't I ?

The message is pretty self-explanatory, enter a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

i want to use a subnetmask /16 not /24.
