Hi all,

Basically I took my phone out of my pocket earlier and found that half of the screen has gone off totally, and the other half has dramatically reduced in quality.

I will have to go to the orange shop and see if they will fix or replace it, but I don't think I have the invoice from when I bought it (from the orange website)

Just posting because I know the D900 is supposed to have big problems with its screen, I think its mainly to do with cracking, but I thought someone might be able to tell me about it.

Im guessing there is nothing I can do to fix this myself? What are the chances of me getting it repaired given that it is still under warranty but that I have no proof of purchase?

Cheers

I've been worried that this might happen to mine but fingers crossed it won't!

If you bought it online do you have a credit/debit card statement that shows the payment to Orange. This can sometimes be used as proof of purchase and they might be able to find the invoice for you using your phone number.

Nope, the only problem i've ever had with D900's is the battery died in my last one, cost of new battery less than £10 or cost of entire new phone - bugger all.
And trust me, mine suffers a lot of abuse, gets thrown about and bashed into a lot.

Thanks for the replies, I went to the orange shop today, but they said they couldnt do anything about it seeing as I had bought it from the website, they have given me the phone number for orange direct, so I will get on to them tomorrow.

I thought about providing a bank statement as proof of purchase, but then I realised, the phone itself was free, so there was no payment, just the monthly fee which doesnt really prove anything.

I just hope that Orange can trace the order and they might have recorded the serial number or the IMEI (is that right?)

I asked them in the orange shop...they just told me to call orange :o

Happened to my D800, needed a replacement screen.
Cost - £40.

:(

Thats not too bad I suppose, hopefully I can prove ownership and they will do it under warranty but if I cant then thats not bad as I was expecting it to be a bit more expensive to be honest.

Happend on my e700.. kept doing what yours has done, then going back to normal. Eventually the whole screen stopped functioning...

Ive turned mine on and off a few times, had the battery in and out a few times and so far it has stayed like that, so totally useless basically, if I press hard on the screen then the dead side comes back slightly with stripes of the wallpaper but thats it :(

Thats just it, it wasnt dropped or anything (amazingly it never has been really) one minute it was working, the next it wasnt. :(

Yes, there is a very small gap between the outer lens and the LCD, loads of the LCDs are breaking. The demand for D900 LCD screens is huge , and has been for the last few months !

the screen loosing half the picture is a common problem with sammys that have sliders or flips, they all seem to have problems with the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the board, the only option is for new lcd with ribbon, then it depends on what the phone is if its worth buying the lcd or just getting a working one of the bay.
