Hi peeps

Looking for advice, my dad has hit a car (his front left the other cars rear right) which was parked in a juvious position just after a corner, it is a 30mph but no one really sticks to that there.

My dad being useless, has not taken any of their details, they took his mobile and maybe registration? not sure.

It appears once they left they went into a gypo camp, so im wondering if we will hear anything, maybe the car is uninsured etc?

I have attatched some pictures of the damage, the passenger side door will not open even though there doesen't appear to be any damage there.

Is this serious enough to be rit of? I have no idea its a 02 place focus with around 65k milage.

All the families in a bit of a shock at mo, what do you recon about the car, will we hear from them do you think? obviously insurance will be informed in the morning. Also how much do these generally add to premiums?

The insurers will see it as an 02 plate Focus at lower end LX trim. To them, it's a 7 year old car.

It can be repaired, but at a higher expense. I think they'll write it off as Cat D.
 
New bonnet, wing, headlight, respray... and that's without the probable damage to the chasis that's making the door stick. That'll be a write-off :(

I have no idea what it's like underneath. Like I say you cannot get into the passengers side so I take it thats structal. Great time of year for it to happen. Time to renew the insurance also. Would only of been £170...
 
Can someone advise me what to do about the claim, Would the person he hit make the claim, but I'm wondering if they will at all.

So i take it we then have to call the insurers to make the claim, are they going to be annoyed at the fact, he hit someone, yet has no details? were does he stand on this

A what position?! No idea what a fault accident will add to your Dad's premium, running a quote through with a fault accident added to it should give you an idea.
 
Surely the wing has just pushed back and is stopping the door opening?

Not a lot to fix it himself tbh. Washer bottle is probs damaged as I believe it is under that wing.
 
Chassis/door should be fine. Someone kicked my front wing in a car park (left a boot mark which is how I know) and that was enough to stop the door opening.

That wing is a relatively cheap part, sod all underneath it. Only other thing you need to replace is the headlight unit, not sure on cost but I doubt it would be hugely expensive.
 
I'm pretty sure the washer bottle is under that wing on the mk1 focus. Not sure how far back it is though.

Either way. Cheap fix
 
I reckon they would probably fix that. New bonnet, headlight and wing, repair bumper and then blend and spray.

Also, without meaning to sound stereotypical I would be surprised if you hear anything from these people but then even if your Dad had taken their details they probably wouldn't mean anything anyway.

I'm assuming from the fact you say that nobody sticks to the limit that he was going more than 30?

I think he's probably just shown why the limit is 30 ;)
