Ok, first off I have no stats or figures so this is all purely guess work.
The flat I live in has a hot water tank, heated by 2 elements. I have 2 switches, one is obviously the main tank immersion, low draw, to have available hot water whenever you want. The other is the high draw immersion element.
There is no timer, so I can't choose when they come on. How I've been running it is having it all switched off, when I want a shower or hot water, I pop the top up immersion on, I only need 30 minutes for ample supply for a shower.
I obviously need to sort it out and get the stats on how much electricity it is drawing, but in terms of guessing, would you say manually flicking on immersion for half an hour each day (typically at 6:00am) is better than having the low powered one on all day or even having it on when I go to bed then turning it off when I get up?
