Ermm, just what is going on with that diagram. They are seriously suggesting that a ward delivered 223 mothers, and only 18 of them originated in the UK?

Is that ward the 'foreign' ward? No fireigners on other wards, the % make no sence for a Uk hospital unless the ward in question is a special case.

It's daily fail, so i will question rather than read an article sensationalised to provoke a nazi response from middle classes.
 
I am assuming the other 277 mothers who gave birth in that hospital in that year were British as they didn't raise the Mail's ire? It also doesn't mention how many of said mothers were paying for their treatment or how many were UK resident paying UK taxes? Article designed to incite rage incites rage...
 
In theory, only a woman who has lived here legally for a year or has a student visa lasting more than six months is entitled to free NHS care when giving birth.

Yet few hospitals are prepared to turn away a pregnant patient in the late stages of labour. Indeed, the Government recently issued an instruction telling them to admit such women without question.

Nice. There is precisely no info in that article regarding how long people had been go the uk before using the hospital or how long they stayed after. It's all baseless speculation.

I think he was using an abundant amount of sarcasm in his response, but I may prove to be incorrect.

Its possible he was not, is he the one posts the links to the Dailt Fail each and every day, or do people take turns? Perhaps he's an employee.
 
I think it's amazing all those women have come all the way from Australia to be give birth rather than stay at home with their own really good health care system - maybe the NHS should get a badge for this or something. Maybe those women just lived here though - that of course would be the other option.

Edit - what is amazing of course is there are from that chart no actual staff looking after those women! How about that for cutting back frontline staff - bet Gordon would be well proud of that units manager.
