I've ordered one of these, but didn't particuarly research other users opinions on the block beforehand.

I've since found a lot of negativity towards the workmanship and effectiveness of the block,it seems the E.K block would have been the better choice.

Most of the negative comments seem to be aimed at early samples,so I was wondering if the block may have been improved in response to the initial slatings it received,if not i'll be returning it for an exchange with the E.K.

Any opinions appreciated.

Thanks.

The EK blocks have an excellent reputation, though I think they're prone to the tops cracking if you tighten them or the barbs too tight.

Jokester

I've not heard about the EK being prone to cracking, thanks for pointing that out.

Are you using or have you used either block?

Tbh a lot of the negative comments i've read about the DD are from xtremeSystems forum members who were basing their opinions on a picture some guy took of the inside of an early sample of the block, none of 'em had actually used the block so I'm beginning to think that a lot of the negativity towards it could be unfounded.

The upcoming swiftech looks amazing,I wonder when thats due?

Yeah,I did consider the Dtek block but fancied a full cover cooling method as I hadn't tried it before, cheers all for your comments and pics.

That cup final was a bit dull, congrats to Chelsea though.

This block does look rough on inspection,I'm no expert in how a machined finish should look but when I compare the finish of this to some other blocks I've had it pales in comparison, some areas of the block look like corrosion is present, check for yourselves, apologies for my lack of photographic skill.

Put it this way i had 2 BFG 8800GTX WC in sli with a thermochill pa 160 cooling them both and i was getting 45c idle and 50 odd when i played my game`s so these blocks cant be that bad.

That sounds good clone, maybe I haven't wasted my money then.

I must admit to be disappointed with the finish of the DD block though, for nigh on a hundred quid i'd expect a perfectly smooth mirror finish but this block looks like it has been lapped with an angle grinder!

The Dtek fusion cpu block, quality and finish really shames the DD.
