David Cameron left his daughter in a pub for 15 mins

Seems designed to remind us he goes to pubs & has a family.

Agreed.

There is no good reason for this to have been bumped to front page of BBC news other than for the above reason, to remind us 'he is only human' and 'one of us'.

When in reality he is a greedy, self serving, power hungry bundle of bum fluff :p

While I agree it doesn't really matter (not the hardest mistake to make in the world) - I do wonder, if it was say.... perhaps the leader of a party a majority in this thread didn't support, would they be as forgiving?.

I think not.

You mean like the defence of Brown over the rubbish "Spelt the name of the dead soldier wrong" letter? Not everything has to be partisan you know.

And what is that?

Yes - It's a completely dull and hardly newsworthy story. And yes - many parents have done something similar up and down the country and will continue to do so. However, this isn't just Joe Bloggs and his missus down the pub for a spot of lunch with their sprog. And despite the fact it is David Cameron who I really couldn't give a gnats chuff about, the main issue here is that his security detail = massive fail.

These people are providing protection to the most important politician in the country. They have procedures, tactics and drills which are supposed to be carried out to the letter whether it's just following him to the bathroom when he goes for a pee at a Tory party conference or doing the full drill at an all day/evening event in Europe somewhere.

The point is that it's not exactly professional looking when they realise 15 mins later after leaving the premises "Errrrm, hang on - wasn't the bosses daughter with us this morning when we left?". Especially in this day and age of heightened security threats. I expect someone's head will roll for this and quite rightly so.

It is a non-issue TBH.

But just as call-me-dave was telling the world last week how he likes 4 glasses of wine with his sunday roast and loves 'chillaxing' and playing fruitninja, I'm cynically filing this one away in the "Crappy spin attempt to re-establish a connection with the plebs" folder.

More surprised that his security failed to notice, quite appalling really

I'm pretty sure they didn't.
