Exactly. I thought this was the whole point of the story, not that the parents left/forgot about her but that the security was a joke.
Had all the security personnel left the building?

It was certainly the reason I posted it initially. A few folk in the thread have alluded to this but some seem unable to grasp that concept.
It's either that or tl;dr strikes again.![]()

It isn't hard to see why the US Secret Service insist on dominating security arrangements for Presidential visits. Close protection in this country seems to be the waster's dream ticket; I'm reminded of the case a few years ago of the Royalty protection officers who used to spend their shifts posing for photos on the throne.*I'm more concerned his security detail didn't pick up on it sooner. Your first check before you leave is are all accounted for.
If there was an officer with the child, Cameron wouldn't have had to go back to collect her. She was left behind. But there is no detail on whether all security had left the building, without that the story is pointless.
I'm pretty sure they didn't.

A Downing Street spokeswoman said there was no question of the Camerons blaming security for the incident. "Sam thought the PM had Nancy, the PM thought Sam had Nancy," he said. "They take responsibility for their own children. No one is going to face disciplinary action."
rubbish father.
When the prime minister returned to collect Nancy he found her helping staff.
