I was watching a documentary the other night - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2912878405399014351

Not because i'm tapped or anything, just out of interest :p

The Anti Defamation League (Jewish) believe that when David Icke talks about 12 foot lizards, he is actually talking about Jews. The person reporting the story explained to Gail Gans of the ADL that David Icke does not having anything against Jewish people, but considers that people at the top of the Jewish heirarchy (in addition to the people at the top of all heirarchies) are 12 foot lizards.

On this basis, Gail Gans considered that David Icke is anti-semitic.

Is it me or are they all completely barmy?

It isn't just you, they are all a few sandwiches short of a picnic. I can't get much from your original post about why the ADL think David Icke is talking about Jews (and no way am I watching 49 minutes of him ranting about lizards just to get more of an idea) but it does seem slightly ego-centric to me to immediately imagine that a nutter is talking about you.

Not that I have all the answers but the theory is that David Icke has several extreme right wing supporters (including Combat 18). In a review of one of Icke's talks, C18 stated that 'when Icke talks about lizards, we all know who he means - salt beef sandwich anyone?'.

A fairly loose connection I would have thought.

I could've sworn the problem they had with him was that jews were depicted as lizards in nazi propaganda and that they felt he was echoing that sentiment.
 
I'm the most sceptic person in the world but earlier this year CH4 showed a documentary about David Icke called something like 'Was David Icke right?' and I must admit my eyebrows raised a little bit (and not about the lizards either).
 
The ADL think that anyone who talks about a global conspiracy to rule the world is in fact using codewords to defame Jews and thus is anti-semitic. It wouldn't matter is you said it was 12' lizards, freemasons, bankers, or what, the ADL would come out and say that you were disguising your anti-semitism with smokescreen of well know synonyms for Jewishness.

They are all madder then a box of badgers, but a lot of people actually listen to what the ADL actually say. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they do some very good work identifying real anti-semites but they go completely overboard and end up sounding as paranoid and delusional as Icke (almost).

For his book 'Them: Adventures with Extemists' Jon Ronson spent time with both Icke and the ADL. It's quite an interesting and entertaining read.

I don't think he does his theories on social manipulation any credit at all when he starts talking about shape-shifting lizards etc
