I need to pick my new car up on Wednesday and i'd prefer to insure it for the day while i shop around for decent quotes, dayinsure only seem to day insurance for 23 and over, does anyone know of a company that will insure me for the day?

thanks :)

I'm assuming you're not insured under another car atm? If you are, you can just take out a test drive policy on top, usually up to 3 days and at little cost or no charge.

Other than that, take out a policy and cancel within 2 weeks?

Get the seller to drive it to yours, pay back in fuel costs/crate of their choice.

Swinton look very pointless, just tried to get a quote with them to see how they compare and they won't cover me on ANY of the cars in the household including my own

They won't quote me on a Volkswagen Sharan which Norwich union insured me on in the summer and for two days on my Volvo they want £52!!!

Shocking.

Rubbish. Have to have had your license for at least 12 months too.
I find it a bit odd that I could hang around never driving for a year, and then they'd insure me, but they wouldn't now.

TBH, I agree with that restriction, people who have just passed their test and are driving unfamiliar cars are a high risk.

Finny thing is the Swinton quote form doesn't ask how long you've been driving.

Hmmm this is going to really mess up my new car plans. I can't test drive a car if I have to be 23 when I'm 21. :(

Swinton said this...

Your policy was declined

Because of the following reasons:

* We cannot provide insurance to the main driver for this vehicle

Well that's informative, no reason as to why, just because I want to be the main driver of a BMW 328i for ONE day. :/

try the following, both use different underwriters.

www.insuredaily.co.uk
www.tempcover.com

was just about to moan about this till i realised i am 23 :D

:p

I need someone that will insure a powerful car for a day so I can test drive. I don't fancy taking out full policies and cancelling within seven days each time I want to try a car. :/

Edit: Thanks DiscoKandy I'll take a look. :)

tempcover : Driver 1 must be over 23 if quoted vehicle is in insurance group 15 or higher.
insuredaily: Don't have the 328i listed.

:(
