DDR3 for Asus Extreme

Hi just got this board, cant afford DDR3 I am hoping it will run with DDR2?

It's DDR3 only. You may change it for this if you want DDR2 support.

I got the maximums extreme, then found out it was DDR3 only.
So had to fork out a bit to get DDR3 Ram..

But it does mean MOBO is more future proof...

When do you think DDR3-1800 (2x1GB) will reach < £100 anyone ?

Will most probably be some time yet before that memory will be at this price. when I finally decide which DDR3 X48 Motherboard to go for, im going to have to pay a premium for the memory, as im looking to get 4GB of fastest available, witch I think is DDR3-1800?, and is gonna cost me a bom. OCZ 4GB (4x1GB) DDR3 PC3-14400C8 1800MHz, Total : £570.15 :eek:

If I were you Sylver I'd get 2 GB only at the min. Unless your going to use Vista Ultimate 64. Even then if you want game performance stick with 2GB in XP as thats all it can see is 3GB max. XP is far quicker for games at the min.

Wait untill the price comes down IMO

I`m sure I read on some threads here people where saying that XP can see more than 2GB, even the 32-Bit version, and I think it was around about 3GB. Will check the prices of the DDR3 in 4 months time, and hope there will be better deals available by then.

DDR3 prices will fall quickly, all analysts are currently pointing to the difference between DDR2 and DDR3 going to about 10% before the end of this year.

To the comment about pricing

XP 32-bit can read 3.2GB
