dealer service vs local garage service...

Hi,

I bought my honda accord w reg second hand a few months ago...

Service is due...

Currently the car has always been into main dealer from previous owner when getting a service...

Previously I have always taken my cars to my friend who has a local garage...

So was wandering whether I should take my car to my friends garage or the main dealer?

What would you do?

Please advise..

I'd take a short trip to Halfords for oil, oil filter, spark plugs and air filter and do it myself. How much is an 8 year old Accord worth? What's the price difference between Honda and local garage service cost?
 
Take it to friend, with the age of car main dealer servicing becomes less important especially if you plan to hold onto it for a few years. You can't really beat a mechanic that you know and trust.

main dealer will cost a bomb ,hourly rates are £65 plus ,its not worth it on a 8year old car !
 
I do plan on keeping hold off it...

Difference in price is around £440 if brake discs and pads are required..

My friend has always done a good job for me..
 
Forget Honda, it'll still have a full service history if you take it to the local guy. The local guy will probably be better than the numpties at Honda anyway.
