Decent cheap tablet for content

Hi - I'm looking to buy a tablet which I can largely use when working late to have things like Wimbledon or the football on on the side. I won't be using it for much other than watching things.

My understanding is that a lot of cheap Android tablets lack codecs to watch Netflix in HD. Is that correct? And if so, is there a decent budget Android tablet or should I just pick up the low end iPad?

You'll have a better tablet experience with an iPad but Samsung's cheaper tablets are also generally fine for media consumption. Currently using a S5e and it's been fine for HD Netflix and Disney+.

Amazon Fire 10 might be worth a look. They're not fast but fine for media consumption.

Cheers guys! Think I might just end up with the lowest end iPad tbh, sounds like there isn't an equivalently useful Android equivalent for the money
