Decent fan needed to suck out hot air

If you want a good balance between noise and airflow the Scythe SFlex 1200rpm fans are excellent and well thought of on silent pc sites. OcUK sell them. Other good fans are the Nexus 120mm orange or black/white fans, but they push considerably less airflow. The YateLoons are the same fan but run at the full 12v, so would be a better bet. Sharkoon are also good but again less airflow. The Scythe are the best I have come across.

Lots of people recomemnd SilentX but they exaggerate about their db and airflow rating. Quite a few people on these forums also recommend the Akasa Ambers which I don't like. Rebadged YS-Techs. Noisy unless you volt mod them, and then they make a clicking noise. I also find the same to be true of the Acoutifan Dustproof 120mm models.

So in my opinion for a fan running at 12v in order of cooling capability with good noise profile.

:) thankyou. could anyone point me in the direction of a good guide to blowing air out of case. I have no idea where to put the fans. I've seen one product which had the fan at the front instead of a dvd drive is this common. the reason being is i want the air to leave the case not just get blown around it. my case is full of wires its not designed for gaming or low temperatures but I can't just buy a new case

are there any other products which could cool my case aside from fans blowing air out of case???

You could go for watercooling but this is expensive, especially for a non-gaming PC, and you'd be better off with a case with improved ventilation.

Most cases have a fan inlet at the bottom at the front and an outlet at the back just below the PSU so this is where you put the fans and their size is determined by the size of the holes in the case. It's pointless asking what's the best 120mm fan if you don't know what size your case will take.

You can improve the airflow through your case by tidying up the wiring. Changing from flat ribbon cables to round ones can help let the air through.

We can't recommend a CPU fan without knowing what sort it is and what motherboard socket it uses.

If you want a fan to blow air out of a case then the Arctic Cooling Fan 12 is the 120mm version of the fan they use on their CPU coolers. I really cannot recommend these enough, they are very quiet, don't cause panel vibration as they are completely isolated from the case by the rubber mounts, they shift a lot of air and they look quite amazing. Because of their construction they can only 'push' air so they cannot be reversed but that is the only downside to them. They are also extremely cheap at under £5 delivered!
