Guys, i secured an interview with somewhere i really would like to work. However due to unforseen circumstances i cant attend the interview now. (no need to into the why's etc)

My worry is that ill get 'black listed' or something meaning that i will never get a job there.

Do you guys know if this sort of thing goes on at all? Its a job with the Environment Agency so its a massive governmental department.

I've re-arranged the job interview I had for the place I'm working at the moment.

I don't think you'll be "Black Listed", but some companies may look down on it.

Just call them and ask if they could reschedule the interview as you cant attend the time/day due to whatever has happened. Tell them that you really like the job etc. and you really want to meet them some other time.

Explain the situation? I had to do a similar thing with a job interview I had scheduled for when I was away at a family wedding for a week, they re-scheduled no problem and I got the job.

If they don't do it then it's probably a good thing as they might not be all that to work for.

If it's government they're not allowed to blacklist due to their policies which spread across the entire government. They have to be seen to be carrying the torch in the way they recruit staff, so to speak. Equality, diversity, equal ops/pay/everything etc.

Source: I used to work in recruitment for the government.

would they do that? I would have thought they would just shrug their shoulders and say 'sod him them'!

Why would they do that?

Ask. Worse that can happen is that you miss this interview window, they're not going to black ball you.

Besides, you're not allowed to call them black lists in the government. You have to call them 'lists from which a person(s) may be excluded due to unfavorable circumstances'. Black list is totally racist.

If its a government agency then you will get a re-schedule trust me on this one :) they tend to bend over backwards for people just in case they get in trouble for some form of descrimination or the other, just have a good reason for not being able to attend :)

Remember that a job is somewhere you want to work and they should entice you to work for them as much as you should promote yourself to them.
