You mite be able to find something that suits you, but my best advice would be to build your own, you get max size/space and also any extras you need or want.

Just go for it -its the way forward :)

Or go the whole hog and get a guy you meet down the pub while your drunk to build you one.

Office world are good though.

I designed my own in Corel Draw.
I even took pictures of the main hardware and put them on the design.
I added some DVD space and decided to turn the cupboard on the left into drawers.

I'm going through the same process at the moment as I'm pretty sure my current large desk won't go through the door to what will be my workroom in our new house. I wasn't that impressed by Ikea's desks and even less by MFI's. There's some really nice stuff at www.thestationerycupboard.com but it's expensive. I might get lucky as Mrs Snapshot doesn't want the old desk in the new house anyway as it won't suit her colour scheme. :D

I forget his name but there was some guy on these forums who had a desk built around him. Looked very nice indeed. Said it cost him 2 grand or something like that though!

Build your own, it's not that hard and you get a great sense of satisfaction when you look at the completed item and think "I did that". I know I do.

In other words, is it worth sacrificing MY DESK SPACE for extra room at the dinner table? :o

Well I quite like the look of that desk as it is, but you are binning it so moveing on..

A bigger desk is always nicer, like money and disk space, you can never have enough, but obviously you need to compromise, so:

what do you need the desk for ? (just a keyboard, or do you do paper work, ned to look at plans, maps etc)

You have a LCD screen that's good, what else do you need to keep near your desk that's big? (printer, scanner, PC, screen, gfx tablet, how many cds, stacks of paper etc)

Shelves are good, get as much as you can off the desk on to shelves mounted above the desk, even your screen, perhaps wall mount the screen? Use you space, you have limited floor space, start to go up the wall!

Getting stuff up off your desk can increase apparent desk space exponentially so you can get away with a smaller desk.

I bought one of these http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stor...20&categoryId=15801&chosenPartNumber=14630009

(22 quid!) varnished it to match the laminate floor, and shortened it by about 4 inch to fit into an alcove in our room. Take a good look at Ikea stuff as you can often simply modify it I don't see why you couldn't narrow that sort of table aswell.

<edit> If you are looking for wrap around have you considered an open backed book case to the left behind/side the TV as a divider between desk/TV area perhaps 2 metres or so tall. Ikea has nigh on infinte choice of bookcases, (BILLY bookcase springs to mind) Or some kind of variation on that.

Here is a dodgy pic in case anybody cares:

It's a bit messy the hifi stuff has just been dumped there and I'm in the middle of rebuilding a server as well as a dozen other things....

I dont know about you guys but i prefer just a flat surface rather than a ready made 'PC desk'. Then i've got shelving around and a small capbinate under the desk.

The cabinate is on casters so i can just wheel it out if needed.

i gotta say, i love my jerker desk from ikea, great quality build, and i got the additional shelf for the top, along with cd/magazine holders
