people tell you that £13k is a good wage

it is hardly above minimum wage and only half of the national average wage

back to your to your main question, if you have no motivation then get out, it will only get worse

Like Rotty said - If you dont like your work....walk out!

By the way while you are there....can you write off one or two parking fines for me and a few point on licence erased? Or perhaps make my car not traceable via the address...please. Email in trust.

13k after three years?! I was on around that when I worked in a warehouse for a month! That is not a good wage at all, lol

I agree with this from experiense although it is easier said than done. :(

I can understand that, often you get into a rut and it takes something happening ( redundancy etc ) to give you the motivation to sort things

I'm in a similar situation myself.

I tell myself I want to leave, try looking for other jobs and can't find anything that I really want to do/am qualified to do.

I hope I get made redundant. I have payment protection on all of my outgoings, so won't have anything to worry about there. Whereas if I leave or get the sack, payment protection doesn't cover it.

Go to uni! Find yourself a course that you're interested in and get stuck in. Fair enough you'll have to live on a student loan but there's nothing stopping you getting a p/t job for some extra income, it's certainly do-able and defiantely worth it for the qualification, the experience and most importantly the poontang ;)

It's just taking the plung and I can certainly empathise with your situation, I was on 15k in a call centre just last year and my situation was almost identical.

I've been saving quite a lot despite my crap wage and I have the opportunity to move to australia in 6months, for a year and live with a friend there, but I'm affraid of quiting and coming back jobless and with no income.

DO IT, don't think about it, just do it.

You will spend the rest of your life regretting you didn't at least TRY IT when you had the chance.

Remember he is in South Wales - salaries are comparatively lower and jobs are indeed thin on the ground. I speak from experience!

I've felt exactly the same in my job for about 2 years. I'm now job hunting as I leave in June (ish). It's the best thing I can remember doing! I feel much happier already, and I am enjoying doing my CV and writing letters. It took a long time to make the decision, but the feeling is great when you know there is no turning back.

If you need a change mate, only YOU can make it happen. If you are unhappy, get a new job. Get careers advice from professional people, find something new if you fancy a total change. Work out what qualifications and experience you have, and how they can be used to sell yourself to a potential employer.

There are other websites for jobs, such as Monster.com etc. Give them a try.
I suspect you may be able to earn more than your current salary, so research what different companies offer to people of similiar qualities as yourself.

Honestly mate, why live an unhappy existance? That feeling in the morning when the alarm goes off and you really can't face work. It's horrible. But you've got to go. And it lives up to expectations. And on it goes.

Hows about enjoying life again? If that appeals then seek out advice!!

Anyway, good luck mate!

Im in the same boat-ish. I cant stand the work i do, its boring, laborious and has crap all to do with anything that interests me. I am on a larger wage but thats all that keeps me there.

For the past year ive wanted to hand my notice in, but i have zero qualifications and cant justify leaving without @ least having another job to go to that i will enjoy (that being something in IT).

Been looking on the jobcentre website too + monster etc but they all require qaulifications which i dont have.

Stuck in a rutt tbh, looking for home learning courses like Open Uni while im there but im not sure i have the motivation as im tired a lot due to working on shifts. Thinking of going back to college or getting a putupwithable (i might have to patent that word) 9-5 job and doing evening courses.

First thing im doing with my savings is travelling, hopefully that will help me decide what im going to do.

Qualifications aren't everything. Experience is worth a lot too. A lot of employers put required qualifications on their adverts but will often settle for "less" if the person is what they are after. Fair enough, qualifications help, but experience is worth a lot too.

Obviously it depends what you want to do, but we all have transferable skills that we don't realise that we have.

As I said in a post above, seek advice! You never know what you might come up with. For the sake of an hour down the careers office, it's worth a try!

Paul

By the way "putupwithable" is a cracking word! ;)
