p60 is end of tax year statment, much liek a bank statment.

p45 you get when you leave a job, this tells your new employer what tax code your on, how much tax you've paid and how much you have earnt, so they can work out how much tax you should now pay.

IIRC it's also criminal offence not to supply you with a p45.

Thanks acid, Im quite confused because I've been given a p60 instead of a p45, or maybe its just taken its time.

phone up and demand it, unless you quit at the end of the tax year.

some of them are useless.

No you should get a p60 around now (well I got mine with my april payslip so a month ago

If you dont get a p45 soon then fill in a p46 instead and give that to your employer

royal mail took about taht long, by the time i got the p45 I already got it sorted with a p60.

You must provide an original copy of your P45 from your previous employer. It is necessary to provide this so that the correct amount of tax is deducted. If you do not have a P45 or it has not yet been supplied to you, you must submit the P46. Failure to supply either P45 or P46 will result in the deduction of tax with no personal allowances.

looks like i was wrong, they where looking at bring in a statutory 14days to receive your p45(back in 2002), but it seems that regulation didn't get passed

Why do good laws never get passed whilst rubbish ones do.
