Asrock 4core dualVSTA and a E2160 for about £100. This will take your DDR1 memory and a AGP gfx as well as DDR2 and PCI-e (but only at x4); ie an upgrade route.

dude, the asrock and the e2140 will last your kids a long long time, and it'll be much faster than what you are replacing.

Best to probably try the MM mate if you're looking at second hand, also the B grade stuff on the website. New stuff I doubt you'll get lower than £80 for a cpu + mobo.
