Don't know, just another way of screwing more money out of you. Probably higher risk if you're using it to get from job to job than just popping to the shops. I guess you could lie but they have lie detectors on the line now.
 
You do need to declare it, they ask the question in the event of a claim. You can lie if you want to, but should it ever come to light (and if they suspect something they will send someone to interview you).

Business use is split into 3 classes.

Personal Business use - travel to different offices of one employer or similar

Class II - Visiting Customer premises or similar

The first will often not increase premium by much - if at all

Class III - Commercial Travelling - basically Sales rep or similar.
 
I am now about to go to Class 2, it's best to speak with your insurance provider just in case they cover you in the policy as standard (Prudential) or advise on which class you should be in.
