Hi all, my rents have a Dell 1355CN all in one. It's been good as gold for a few years, but my dad has recently changed the toner, and solid black is printing very poorly. We tried a different toner and the same issue. I can't find much, if anything online for troubleshooting - and know nothing about laser printers at all.

Can anyone suggest steps to try?

Cheers

That's what I fear mate, it's a shame as the printer has done so well and would cost a fair bit to replace, plus I hate to just bin something that could be saved.

I'll see what I can find out with regards to a fuser.

Is it not strange that it's only the black that's faint though?

I doubt it'll be the Fuser. Probably the drum/imaging unit. Fuser will often give streaks or toner that rubs off the page and will affect all colours. There will be one imaging unit for each colour (Black, Yellow, Magenta and Cyan).
I dont have any specific experience on that model of printer, but have been working on Toshiba MFDs now for nearly 30 years.
