Hi all.

For anyone who has had both of these monitors, which would you say are better? I like the Dell, but in some cases I feel it can be just a little TOO big. I primarily use my pc for gaming and movies. I've been reading good things about the samsung, but do you think the change would be worth it?

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

simple as.. do not downgrade, because thats what it would be.. a downgrade!! performace wise its had excellent reviews yes, but after me having a 2407 its just nowhere near as good.. try and go for a more expensive 20" that doesnt have a TN panel

StevenG - you don;t seem to like the Samsung - as I was thinking about getting one when it comes back in stock would you have a better suggestion?

at the end of the day yes its highly reviewed but it has a TN panel... enough said really tn panel technology is just not as good as some of the other technologies out there,

get the NEC 20" that afaik doesnt have a tn panel and is extremely highly rated.

other than that if ** budget can stretch a 2407wfp would be my best monitor choice atm.

I have a 2407 and I am thinking to sent it back because I think there is some tearing while watching video :( I was thinking also to try something like the 226 in case there is no tearing. However, I dont know if its natural to have tearing in movies with LCD.

I doubt the tearing will be anything to do with the screen TBH, it's just becuase v-sync is always off on the desktop. Try openning a window and dragging it quickly round your desktop and you'll see the edges break up. So whether you get tearing on a movie will depend on how your movie player package is displaying the movie (plain GDI, overlay, directdraw, d3d, opengl etc). Some will be synched, some won't.

Try changing output method in your movie player or try another movie player.
