Dell Inspiron 1545, SSD and OS install?

I’ve got an old Inspiron 1545 minus its original HDD. I want to fit it with an ssd and install windows 7 which I still have the os and drivers cd’s that came with it.

I’m going to order a 250gb ssd and a 7-9.5mm spacing adapter.

I’m just wondering if there’s anything else I need to be aware of or get? Is it as simple as just installing the ssd and then turning it on and inserting the cd?

Yeah typically it should be as simple as that.

Typically it would be worth checking if there is any BIOS updates for the machine. Just tried to have a look, can only find the A13 download dated Nov 2009.

Create a Windows ISO install, it'll be GPT or MBR system (work out which) then save copy of the LAN driver to the USB stick.
