Dell laptop catches fire at Yahoo research building

I have about 50 Dell Latitudes in the school but haven't gotten around to checking them all yet, getting a new school in a couple of years anyway :p

by new school do you mean the laptops will blow up and the school sets on fire because of it? - that would be extreme.

I work with about 400 dell machines, id say about 150 of them are laptops, ive checked most of them (as i work in it) but u never know.

You should see the battery on my mates powerbook, it has become huge and has a big bulge in the side, looks like it is going to explode!! I assume he is getting it replaced. :)

Two of the four Dell batteries which I have for my Latitude laptops needed to be replaced. It's definately worth going sticking the serial numbers into the recall program site to get them checked out.

If your house burned down because you hadn't checked then you'd feel a bit of a muppet ;)

Anyone saying they can't be bothered, this is why you should. I very much doubt insurance will cover you for negligence. Remember - Dell, Apple, and now Toshiba.

Both my Dell batteries predate all this furore. No problem here. Does make me wonder about some of the aftermarket batteries I've got for other things though.
