Hello you lovely people. As some of you may be aware me and the PC Monitors slaves over on my website have been beavering away at a review of the Dell ST2320L. This is the latest LED-backlit monitor from Dell - but it's a far cry from their UltraSharp series we have been reviewing recently. The review dispells some quite weighty misconceptions some people have regarding the image quality benefits of LED backlighting and also the responsiveness of TN vs. IPS monitors.

Please don't spit your tea over your keyboard when you reach the conclusion table. ;)

Also feel free to discuss the review over on the forums (as well as on this thread of course) - they're getting a bit lonely.

For now just leaving it at the U2211H. From the perspective I do the reviews from (entertainment) there is very little difference between the image quality of the screens. People considering the U2311H can also seek solace from the trustworthy testing of TFT Central that reveals that the U2311H is even more responsive. Whilst I'd like to test this first hand I don't think it warrants another full review. If we can get ahold of a U2311H we will certainly have a short piece about the differences.

Cheers for all the good work PCM2. It is really helpful not only to have another review site when it comes to planning the monitor purchases or monitor drooling as the case may be, but it is really nice to have someone that also interacts with the world on a common forum.

To me it seems like Dell has no real interest to compete in the non-IPS market. They have an excellent UltraSharp series, but other manufacturers are clearly having more success with TNTs.

No problem :). I have an unfortunately quite limited experience with Dell's TN panels but I haven't been impressed with them so far in the way that I have the majority of Samsungs. The ST2320L is probably a particularly poor monitor 'even for a Dell TN panel' - but the review higlights the misconceptions surrounding LED backlighting and IPS vs. TN response time beautifully I feel. There's nothing like hard examples to sway people.
