Dell U3011 now or wait?

Hi guys

I've been eyeing up the Dell U3011 for a few days now and am about to pull the trigger. I like the 16.10 aspect ratio as I have one at the moment but have not seen a 30" in person so have no idea if it would be too big for me or not. Would a 30" sitting on my desk with me about 3-4 foot away from it be too big especially for gaming? I mainly play driving games.

Just wanted peoples opinions on the 30" size and if it suited them or not. I could always go down one to 27"

I was actually looking at one of them Korean ones before I saw this. I did post in the thread asking for advice on which model to get but no one replied and the thread was so big it was a bit overwhelming.

Which model did you go for in the end then Double07? And how do you find it compared with other IPS displays that are much more money?

You have put me in a dilemma now lol. I prefer the Dell but these Korean panels are just so cheap. Guess my biggest fear would be having to pay customs charge on top of the cost.

Hmmm I'm still hovering over the buy button. I'm thinking now that maybe the 30" might be just a bit big and looking at the u2711. Also the saving of £300 or so would be nice. Are both the dells plus the catleap matt finish displays? And how would an IPS display compare to my current display which I think is AMVA? Cheers for all the input guys it really is appreciated

I was seriously tempted by one of the cheap korean catleap screens but think I may give them a wide berth. I know you can pick up one of these for roughly £200 not taking in to account the customs charge if you get one. But then if there is the whole hassle of sending it back over there should problems arise. I will go with a Dell just still unsure on the 27" or 30". I have a 16.10 at the moment and do like that resolution just it's not the best for watching movies on as you will always get black bars on 16.9 content.

Cheers. Well looking on various sites it is going to cost me £260 more to go for the 30" over the 27. Need to order soon so can have it delivered for tomorrow. Arrgghh which to go for..........

How do you find reading text on the 27 craarc? Do you find it too small or just about right?

Well I left it too late and didn't buy it today so I'll leave it till over the weekend until I decide on what size to go.

Cheers for the mini review Mysterae. One thing is bothering me is the AG coating these displays have. My NEC has an anti glare coating too but I don't find it aggressive in any way. I'd actually like to see one of these in the flesh just to see the coating for myself as I'm worried about paying all that money and it not being to my taste

I've decided to wait a little. I'm scared on splashing out over £800 and not liking the anti glare coating. Really I should go see some in store and decide for myself. I'm going to wait on the next generation of monitors if that's not too far away.
