Hi guys, I know this is purely theoretic as the Samsung is not yet released, but Ive just sold a Samsung HDTV which I was using as PC monitor, so I now need a monitor quick.

Is it worth waiting to see what the Samsung is like or is the Dell a surefire winner?

It would be for PC gaming and multimedia plus Xbox 360/PS3 gaming?

Any other 24" monitors I should be considering in the £350-500 price range?

Sorry (off topic) How much it sold for?

Sorry, was just trying to cut to the chase with my question, I should have actually stated it as "Selling" ;)

I know its going to sell, I dont know how much yet though lol

Id like to know the answer to this question, and tbh I think I might answer it for you G4ORCE.

I'm considering the Samsung, cos of the banding I have only just really started to notice on the 2407... and sometimes its pretty bad. I assume the Samsung doesn't have this issue... right?

Eitherway, if I where you G4ORCE I'd go for the Samsung... if I'm not mistaken, the panels in the Dell are Samsung anyway arent they?

If im correct, the majority of banding issues have been ironed out (this was only a major problem with earlier version a01/a02 and could be resolved in a03 by using desktop mode).

The samsung 245B uses a TN panel compared to the dell 2407wfp which uses a S-PVA panel , the samsung is supposed to be technically inferior

The IPS technology has always been better than TN+Film in terms of color reproduction and viewing angles. In fact, S-IPS matrices leave no chance to other LCD technologies in the color-reproduction quality. They have soft and pleasant colors, which are natural and close to high-quality CRT monitors. That’s why nearly all LCD monitors for professional work with color are based on S-IPS matrices, starting from relatively inexpensive to hi-end models of the Eizo ColorEdge series with integrated tools for custom hardware color-calibration.

The viewing angles are a treat after TN matrices: you can’t notice any distortions of the image, sitting in front of an IPS matrix. There’s only one specific defect – when you’re looking at the screen from a side, black color acquires a characteristic violet hue (by the way, this defect allows telling an IPS matrix from any other), but the manufacturers are improving on this. In most cases, this is an insignificant defect anyway. Viewing angles are wider than PVA and MVA even and are signified by their listed specs commonly of 178/178 instead of 176/176. Only a guide on paper, but in reality, viewing angles are better on S-IPS based screens.

Hi there

Don't forget the LG 245WP OcUK sells, its a very nice panel. All black and has HDMI. Plus its an MVA panel too which is preferred by some wheras the Samsung is a TN panel.
