Demigod by Gas Powered Games (SupCom)

tried playing as each General, and got rediculously owned :(..

then tried Regulus, and OMFG he's awesome :p

Fancy never dying? Fine.. just upgrade your scope, and snipe from your own base for 1200HP shots :D

Sorry UncleanBeast, you were fun for a while, but Regulus is ****ing awesome :p

Had the most fun with Rook and Oak so far.

The baddies just don't do it for me. With their venom and thorns and crap.

:D

Just tried a more balanced rook build sacrificing hammer slam and quite enjoyed it, taking flags and dropping towers all over the place :D. Playing more support class really.

I'm loving Erebus at the moment, when the enemy tries to run away and you just fly in front of them as a swarm of bats, only to kill them with one last bite - excellent :D.
And I like not having to fuss around with actually summoning his units, apart from the standard minotaurs etc. as they just spawn when nearby enemies die. Much easier to manage.

I've been playing around with a few Torch Bearer builds, he is certainly very fast to level with but I just don't think is that good late game -- I have a blast up until me + all other demigods are about 15+ then it just gets a bit boring and nothing seems to scale that well to the point I find just using the right mouse cast attack to be better than anything else, at 20 it fires like a machine gun and with the right gear definitely is putting out a lot more DPS than top rank Fireball.

Regulus I like but I dunno, I find it a bit lame playing as him as you can just one shot other demigods from across the map -- I find that whole OP aspect of sniper shot very boring in the long run of the game.

Beast I find sometimes I can just clean up with and is a blast - but then I find if the other team has the right mix of demigods supporting with auras / abilities then he gets caught out a bit.

Generals I haven't gotten into yet, tried a couple but didn't like the playstyle, although I have seen a Sedna / Queen of Thorns combo that was just beyond unkillable :(

Hopefully this week they will sort out the MP problems so our gamerangers / hamachis can be left to the pirates :D

There's that aspect.. but I just had a game where I got so much gold from early kills with Regulus, that I basically just sat in their base tanking their Citadel, my buffs taking the flak from both enemy DG's :p

He'd be my perfect char so far if it wasn't for his ultra-lame voice acting :p

Brad's monday update:

http://frogboy.joeuser.com/article/348096/Demigod_Monday

Currently for me the no 1. issue is connectivity. I went online last night - thought i'd try a random game and it was frankly impossible. I'm not sure I buy Brads Euro argument - from my playing where I play US and Euro we have all been effected and its only when we have all tuned our routers did we have any hope of getting in. I have no idea how they expected 2 people on a LAN to connect to the WAN just from the port forwarding. If he sorts that out this week that will be a huge step forward. However this issue must have been evident in beta and the couple of negative reviews would imply that...

My second issue - Is performance. I haven't got the world's greatest machine AMD 3200+, 8800GT, 2GB Ram - however it really should be sufficient.. I run it on medium graphics and i'm getting a SIM speed of 0 or -1 when the game starts. In a MP game its slightly better 2 to 3. If I change the graphics right down it makes no difference! I don't think it using the processor fully. If my processor runs at 100% I hear the fan - this can happen in some games such as WIC. In this game I never hear the fan! So i'm unsure if it is the processor why its not maxing my CPU out or at least making more use of it.

I love this game but the above 2 issues are what is stopping me play it to any degree :(

My second issue - Is performance

in all fairness, a sim speed of 0 is to be expected with an XP3200. It's a single core, six year old proccessor, and I expect it's struggling to proccess the AI - hence why you get better performance against human players.

That would be the easier way out :) However in truth the processor is not struggling, if it was it would be maxing out - which it isn't.

This morning I did further investigation - if I run with /nosound then it runs at a constant sim speed of 4 and fps of around 45. The test I did was on the Brothers map.

With sound starts at SIM speed 4 - then I walk to the right hand portal to cap that as I approach it moves down to 2. Then spawns and goes to 1.

With nosound it stays at a steady 4.

I'll check on demigod forums if they have any other options. regardless of quality of sound handling woul dbe the same.

Gotta say i have had very few connectivity issues, if someone else is stated as attemping to connect then i always connect. There were a couple of instances last night where i think the host was being impatient and kicking people who were bit slow then everyone else left. I had 2 games last night 3v3 with no AI.

I don't have a high spec machine but get no performance issues (AMD x2 6000, 4GB RAM, 8800GTS). What is the sim speed? Have been meaning to find out and you just reminded me.

If you hit tab on the score sheet it shows sim speed. It's an indicator how well your machine is handling the game. Sim speed 0 bad - 4 is ok :), 10 is great!

I can live with 4 in fact that is quite smooth - 1 is hard :(

I'm usually 9-10 with my E7200 @ 3.8ghz and 4850 1GB :D

On another note, is anyone having issues with gameranger and win7?

Yeah my sim speed varies quite a bit, i've found it sticks around 3-5 in easy/normal mode games 4v4, on hard it can drop to 0, and nightmare i've seen it at -3! This is with a 1.8ghz dual core laptop cpu (intel).

Nightmare tournament did not go well :p

Try running Demigod with the /nosound switch. If that improves performance then post in here

The concern is that this appeared to be an issue with Supreme Commander. I'm going to try updating Directx9 tonight and also switch the the onboard sound to see if that makes any difference.

Anyone up for a game on the OcUK Demi Hamachi network tonight?

Network: OcUK Demi
Password: OCUKPW

Anyone having issues then go in your Hamachi network adapter option screen, make sure TCP/IPv6 is disabled, double click TCP/IPv4, click Advanced, select the gateway 5.0.0.1 and remove it, and in Interface metric, untick Automatic and instead of 9000 put 10. Then click OK and disable and re enable the Hamachi adapter.
