Hey

I'm due for an appointment (which i'm yet to make) and now i'm at college I was under the impression that you get it free on NHS or whatever, but I was told you still gotta pay? They expect someone whos at college, obv not earning much to pay those extortion prices? :(

You most likely have to fill out an HC1 form. You only have to pay if you don't go to an NHS dentist.

I'm a uni student and had the option of filling out the HC1 form and using the assigned NHS dentist or not bothering with the form and paying full price with my choice of dentist (at a local practice). I went with the chosen one and paid ~£1200 for stuff, much better work and better bloke that did it than the NHS one.

sorry to question it but how do you know it was better work and a better bloke? I'm with a completely nhs dentist now, having used either private or private/nhs up until now and he's the best by far, and has done much better work, and pretty much any work within a 3 month period comes under one £45 charge.

I've been with the NHS for as long as I can remember and his work is always shoddy and he never spotted any problems with my teeth. I had to go in for some work and he was away so had this other one who spotted all the problems (holes in the front of the K9s are easy to see!) and also sorted out the problem I'd been in for. He then gave me the options of going with him but paying full price or going with the other guy and the HC1 possibly taking money off.

Luckily for me I was working for a year and could afford it as it was loads of treatment spread over about 10 months.

^^ +1, £1200 down the pan for a simon cowell like grin and glow no doubt!

Post us a picture!

I don't have any before pics, teeth aren't great still as they are yellow (don't smoke) but they always have been and have been informed they always will be.

I'll grab a pic in a sec.

EDIT: Pics

Open mouth
Fronts

I won't post them as I'm not sure everyone wants to see. :p

I had one removed from each side on the lower jaw, and had quite a few on each side upper and lower rebuilt. Including the K9s that had holes in them, now you'd not know. :)
