Yer I know many people "root" their phones and install what they like.
Although I'd seen the 2.3 ROM's onto the Desire as a bit of a "bodge".
Anyway, HTC have at last released the official 2.3.3 update for the Desire.
You can't upgrade "Over the Air" - you have to download it and run the updater from a PC.
Does result in a total factory reset of the phone, although on the plus side the new ROM gets rid of all the various Vodafone/Orange/O2 branding etc.
Update went on pretty uneventfully. I think I'm seeing an increase in battery life. The menus certainly appear a little more "quick".
Not night/day changes to the phone - but potentially worthwhile to keep it up to date.
