Yer I know many people "root" their phones and install what they like.
Although I'd seen the 2.3 ROM's onto the Desire as a bit of a "bodge".

Anyway, HTC have at last released the official 2.3.3 update for the Desire.
You can't upgrade "Over the Air" - you have to download it and run the updater from a PC.
Does result in a total factory reset of the phone, although on the plus side the new ROM gets rid of all the various Vodafone/Orange/O2 branding etc.

Update went on pretty uneventfully. I think I'm seeing an increase in battery life. The menus certainly appear a little more "quick".
Not night/day changes to the phone - but potentially worthwhile to keep it up to date.

I updated when it was released and wish I hadn't. There are just small niggles with the phone now and the camera performance seems dire.
The phone has been due an upgrade for 2 months now anyway so as soon as the Prime is out, the Desire goes.

What other niggles have you seen?
I've noticed that when you try to move an app to the SD Card it nearly always fails first time. However you immediately do it again and it works fine.

I've not had any other issues.
When you say camera performance seems dire - what do you mean?
I've taken a few pictures since the upgrade and they seem the same kind of quality as pre-update.
Just want to see if I'm seeing the same kind of thing as you.
