Hi guys,

Working in an office all day and using the pc at night is really taking its toll on my back, I get pains in it around my lower back to the mid point.

Atm I have a cheap £50 leather chair which probably is not very good on my back. I'm looking at buying a more ergonomic chair to help support it. I was looking on here http://www.equip4work.co.uk/store/product.asp?spc=E122-124 at somthing like that.

Just basically wondering if anyone knew the cheapest place to get a good quality chair from? I want it to be height adjustable, tilt adjustable, backrest tilt adjustable and possibly the backrest height adjustable.

Also if anyone has any tips for bad backs. I sleep flat on my back, try and sit with my bum at the back of the chair e.t.c, not sure what else i can try.

2 things...

1) I hope this isn't construed as giving medical advice but maybe speak to your doctor. I had minor niggling back troubles for years in my early thirties (they went away eventually) but I used to take a lot of diclofenac and naproxen for it. You can take these litle pills for years with no ill effects.

2) I use a Lay-Z-Boy reclining chair in front of my PC at home. It takes up a wee bit more space than a standard office chair but I am in it for 18 hours straight sometimes and it is wonderfully supportive and comfortable. Your desk would need some space under it a bit like a table for the leg rests part of the chair to extend into. I use a large plastic pastry rolling board on my lap to support the mouse and keyboard which are wireless. No nasty perching on an office chair, no peering doen at a screen which is too low, no using a keybosrd on the desk just in front of the screen at a height position and angle which twists your body into un-natural positions. Ditto for the mouse and no danger of making my tendonitis/rsi worse by using a poorly placed mouse on the corner of a desk surface.

Well in summer I play tennis or golf after work, but in the winter (Like now..) My excerise levels are pathetic. Im not after a FIX in the chair, im after an aid... This chair puts me in a really bad posture.
