Hi,

I been having a annoying thing happen recentley where any image files I have stored on my desktop take about 4-5 seconds to open after I doubleclick them?

If I put the images in a folder on the desktop they fly open? The desktop is on my C:\ drive which is set-up as RAID-0 and yes its a fresh format (WinXP SP2 32-bit).

So whats up with the desktop as a storage area?

Read somewhere to disable indexing service and disable caching of thumbnails. Not sure if it will help, but worth a try.
Hmm ok?

Not sure what this *niggle* is but I noticed it on my other Opteron system, I'm guessing its something to do with one of the patches from Windows Update or perhaps something from a program I have installed? but the problem is only with any images on the user desktop, but as I said put the same images in a folder and they *SNAP* open as they should.

The bottom line is whatever this thing is, its making my PCs look slow :(

Lol no its on both AMD Opteron and INTEL P4 systems? :)

I think I will have to pay close attention next time I do a clean install as I suspect this is something that is happening after I have installed something, i.e: It doesn't happen directly after WinXP is installed. .
