There aren't many. Depending on what speakers you have already or what you may be considering spending on new ones, it would be easier and cheaper to get a DAC separately. Even if you are considering new speakers, you won't be limited to a very small handful.

You can get a USB cable with them rather than a mains power plug, but it's better to use mains because USB can transmit electrical noise. You want no electrical wires connecting the DAC or speakers to the PC.

Yeah, the optical connections I've seen have been adapters rather than integrated speakers.

I guess it's a pretty niche connection for desktops - more of a home cinema system thing :(

(but then why do some desktops have optical out? :confused: )
