*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

Due to the lovely IB glitch I was able to buy the boots gloves, and bond for my warlock along with the 2 ethiric light and the scout rifle. Basically everything I wanted for him so was playing on my hunter last night. Took a bit of getting used to but am quite enjoying using her. A few points off Rank 2 on the first night, I'm happy with that!

I thought you had to stay logged on through the reset for this to work.

Did you stay logged in all day until 6pm when iron banner opened ?

Anyone fancy arranging a PoE 34 run ASAP?
If it's easy, do a couple, if it takes a while just do the 1 as I want to mostly do IB this week.

But it's another Etheric and having only had 2 so far I'm in need of as many as possible. Should get 3 from IB at least but if I can do 1-2 34 runs that gets me most of my fave weapons upgraded, then the last thing I need is a couple of the Raid weapons and I'm done.

Not bothered about getting everything, I'm happy getting 7-8 weapons I like and ignoring everything else.

The PvP seriously sucks balls ...

Any guides to what weapon choices I need etc? Just had my first few games and I am getting killed in 1 shot where as my 366(or what ever it is) weapons are takinmore than 1 mag to kill anyone. I have only killed people by grenades and the punching thing, not one kill with a gun.

Level 32, all purple / yellow guns and armour, some fully upgraded to that year 1 thing.

We had a pretty good run last night, def more wins than loses and some pretty healthy scoring. Welcome back Pharma, certainly seems like there's no rustiness!

yep was good fun last night once we sorted out the comms issues stupid party chat not sending invites, it was contemplated to communicate via the artform dance :D

around 400 points into rank 2 for me so hopefully could get close to rank 3 tonight although I will probably be on later tonight so I'll see if anyone is still online then!

I can run one (or two) this evening (say 7PM) if that is any good? My Titan and Hunter are only "scrub" level 33.5 though.. :p I could get either to 34 if struggling. Onto IB afterwards. :)

I'm not sure there's a weapon in the game that you can empty the entire mag into somebody and it wouldn't kill them!

The easiest weapon I find to use is Red Death. 2 burst of 3 shots to the head will kill, or 4 to the body. MIDA Multi-Tool is also easy to use and very effective.

What class?

Generally speaking you can't go wrong with the high impact exotic hand cannons. Thorn, Hawkmoon. Both can drop people with two headshots. If I'm not feeling particulary on form and missing headshots I'll switch to Vex and just mince people, still effective.

Secondary you want a long range shotgun. Felwinter's Lie is good, although I prefer the Rude Awakening DOA from Dead Orbit, rolled with shot package and rifled barrel, it's got more or less the range of Felwinter's but a significantly higher rate of fire. Found Verdict doesn't have the range but has a great RoF. If you want to snipe then Praedyth's Revenge won't let you down.

Heavy I go for Jolder's Hammer or Corrective Measure.

Warlock I'm using The Ram which gives you an armour boost so you can survive two Thorn headshots (yay!), plus lifesteal on melee hits. I had a couple of rampages earlier where I flanked a group of snipers and tore them up with melee and Rude Awakening :)

Sure that's good for me. Hoping for a quick run really to get onto IB as you say.

So 1 or 2 PoE Lvl 34 runs tonight, 7pm

1. falleneden
2. oweo
3.

Cool. :)

The final boss is a lot easier than the Qodron we experienced. Just remember to not jump around like a jack rabbit as Grounded is in play (take more damage in the air). All of the Fallen have 999% auto aim so if you jump up you are basically dead...

I think it depends what PVP you're playing. Standard Crucible, impact is king from what I understand as all levels (player/weapon) are normalised for fairness. In Iron Banner levels matter, so if you're going up against a level 34 when you're 32 you're doing a bit less damage so it can take a few more hits to kill.

I second the MIDA advice if you have it, it's my go-to primary. I was running the Dead Orbit shotgun last night with shot package on the roll, it absolutely wrecked at range.

There was guys killing me with 1 shot. Soon as i spawn, boom dead. My scout rifle at a guess was taking 8-10 shots to empty someones life.

Hey, thanks!

Killed my head reading that lol... I am not one for noticing names of guns or owt, i just look at the colours and if they look cool :p

Will have a look at them.

Thanks....

Also one more question why i am here... We did the level 34(i think) prison of elders and the final boss was that big robot thing... He kept locking us in some kind of shield that was killing us. one of the guys youtubed it and it said to look at his eyes or something.. didn't work for us.. Anyway, in the end we got bored and quit and went to bed lol... A waste of a hour or 2..... Anyone know how you do it?

There is a Silver Goblin called 'Qordrons eye' or something along those lines.
We found that running to the right, then continuing to the far right/back corner was a good spot.

All 3 people look out for the silver goblin - he will usually hover to your left, or in front of you behind the rocks. have 1 person dedicated to taking him out - to save confusion. But remember to wait 40-50 seconds after each one because when killing it, you get 30 second buff which means you destroy bubbles in 1-2 shots. (the boss contains you ever 60 seconds) Once boss is about to contain you, group fairly close and that 1 person can get you all out quickly.

Then just clear up enemies while getting damage on boss as often as possible.
The first couple are hardest but you can get into a rhythm then it goes down quickly.

Just keep someone constantly on dealing with those yellow hobgoblins as they are the only real danger - they wreck you.
I like to stick to the rocks on the left, pickign them off and any that close in through the tunnel on the left, shoot em from a distance, then as they shield themselves run up to them and shotgun them.

Nice one, thanks! no doubt we'll be trying again tonight... Sounds like some proper team grafting will be needed.

Yeah it may take a few goes but once you get a system going then you'll get it within a few good attempts. It's just getting all 3 people to work on the same page.

We did it last night with a team of 3 who had never did one together before and we died 5-6 times before doing it - although 1 death was when the silver goblin simply vanished when we had it pretty much done.

If someone dies, it's probably best just to focus all efforts on the silver goblin, survive then get the res in and continue as before

it reminded me a lot of the first ever tries at the VoG at level 26! You need to be on it or you can wipe before you know it

A Scout rifle such as VoC or MIDA will kill in 4 headshots or around 5-7 body shots. If it taking 8-10 either you have missed some shots or it is a SR archetype which quite frankly sucks.. 8-10 body shots is Auto rifle territory.

The only guns which can 1 shot you are either snipers (HS only) or shotguns at close range. Hawkmoon has the possibility of being a one shot if the perks stack but this is an outlier. All other guns will take at least two headshots to kill.

Find a load out (both weapons and character sub class - grenades, jump etc) which works for you and stick with it. You won't become "MLG" over night but you will notice and improvement over time.

You have to kill Quodron's eye which is a silver major Goblin (it shimmers). Killing this goblin will give you a jailbreak buff allowing you to break out of the detain bubble and also break your fireteam out as well. Without the buff it is possible to breakout (especially since the 25% reduction in health drain) but it requires a lot of firepower in a short space of time.

This goblin appears throughout the fight and the jailbreak buff lasts 30 seconds. You need to time the kill with the message "Qodron is searching for targets".

All the while you also have to fend off waves of enemies (specifically yellow bar hobgoblins) and DPS the boss...

i'm up for some IB tonight or Prisoner of Elders - i've only done the lvl 28 matchmaking one so far. let me know if anyone is interested - i'll be on from 8pm :)

Qodron = get one person on eye/bubble duty with Super Good Advice. Takes care of that mechanic. Make sure you switch DPS from boss to adds every now and then to make sure you don't get overwhelmed, which can happen when the yellow bar hobgoblin wave turns up.

I didn't have any trouble busting through all the shields with SGA even when we missed the buff a few times. The reduction in the HP drain is a lot more managable now.
