2 gig of corsair xms
2 gt6600 gt cards
2 western digital drives 300 satas
tagen 580 pus

right here where the rpoblems lay

his pc detects the cards both working double checked also on my set

but he cant sli them right i am a total nooob concerning graphics cards

he never bought them both from the same retailer
the dfi board refuse to go into sli mode stating remove card and insert correct cards
so is there a bios flash to get both card on the same bois or does he have to rma one card and get the idenctial card
both are 6600 gt one made by asus the other one is a msi brand

the wont go on to sli mode either with my board to clear these up before asked
any help on this matter would be great cheers

I don't Sli but I think the above is part of the problem... Sli'ing two different cards (same "core" or not) tends to be a bit hit-and-miss (as I understand it). However, maybe you'll get lucky... there's an Sli option you need to enable in the DFi EXPERT BIOS (also make sure the mobo BIOS is the newest version - tends to clear up quite a few problems on the board for most users, see DFi website for more). Also, make sure you've installed the Sli-brige chip (thing) that came with the mobo before turning the machine on.

For the BIOS option, consult the mobo's manual (or get the full version from the DFi website)... hope some of that helps, pretty much just what I've read elsewhere, so sorry if it's wrong, but, well...

mixed vendor support are on the lastest drivers 81.98 for sli, no need to flash gfx bios
there's two settings in the bios
sli broadcast to auto
sli aperature to 8-1-nc-8
in-case you missed one out as it was'nt mentioned
