DFI Infinity i975X, Gibbo? :)

LanParty board is the way to go if OC wise in DFI.

But price I'm estimating to hit £180 mark inc VAT :(

I couldn't wait an extra 2 months just so I could get 20mhz more out my cpu

ASUS P5W DH and DFI Infinity are the two current boards to get.

The intel badaxe is great also but I recommend ^^ more..

Is the Asus P5W *that* good for it's price?

I love the stuff they're providing, useful for me but worthy and how about the overclocking front, as good as what some made out to be?

Not that excited about the asus mobo.

more features yes,

but the infinity will be a workhorse mobo for conroe.

stable vcore and stable chipset..

I need sata and firewire thats enough for my needs.I want vcore options etc...over wireless nonsense.

i have wireless card already and a xfi.
so as long as i get sata 2 ,enough ports and firewire the vcore options and ram options are worth more to me.

asus is 965 remember already old ! lol

With hacked drivers or NDA you can make any card run on any mobo.

SO ATI CF bord can run Nivida and vicer versa

The dfi is good but asus is better and i say go get it.

Clocking is easy, 6 layers means 600FSB thats a lot of clocking

Depends on the GHz you want and which Conroe chip you're getting...

Hi, i think i would look at the E6700 and clock it as fast as possible, i have read that 4.0 Gig isnt out of the question, but does mean which ever ram i get it will need a divider

From what I gather most of the E6600 will hit 3.5ghz at benchmarking leveles. I have noticed that all the screenshots of the overclocks for Conroe I've seen so far DO NOT include dual Prime95 screenshots (if they do it's run for a couple of hours max). So complete 24hour unconditional stability will probably come in around 100mhz lower.

Most 667 ram is overclcoking to ddr 1000 atm, again Super pi seems to be the confirming test, so take that with a pinch if you like.

Team Group ram sems to be doing really well, it's a good price too, alas OCUK do not stock it and it's hard to get the right type in the UK.

Thanks for that Raja , i will probably wait fot the Lanparty version tbh , but i like to get my head round this new tech :D

No lanparty version planned on this Chipset AFAIK. The 'big' LP DFI boards will use the RD600 and SB600 ATI chipsets, they're off a little way yet, usual new chipset precautions apply. DFI have chosen not to develop the Intel 965 chipset, not from the look of their marketing roadmap anyway.
