I don't think it's posting, the fans and harddisks audibly turn on but the monitor doesn't come out of hibernation. Works fine with either 2x1GB matched pair alone (OCZ 3200 Platinum and G.Skill ZX 3200, both 2-3-2-5).

I also tried 2x1GB + 2x512MB which failed to show anything on the monitor too, hence I think it's a mobo problem and not a RAM problem. Motherboard claims to support 4GB, although it might demand 2x2GB (which I can't find in writing anywhere) and doing the same fault on 2x1GB + 2x512MB makes me wonder if there's something I need to change to 2xdual channel.

Email from tech support:

http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/mb_faq_us1.jsp?FAQ_ID=3956&PAGE_TYPE=US&SITE=US Purchase memory all sticks at the same time. Also means all memory should be the same size. That FAQ pretty much tells it like it is as to the sticks being as much alike as is possible...and that really means the same memory IC type that makes up the sticks not just the timings themselves which tell little to the overall construction of the sticks themselves. It takes a great deal of luck, skill and foresight to get 4 gigs of ram to work and I know it can be done since I have done it with 4 gigs of the very same OCZ UCC memory IC based memory sticks and ran it at 270x10 for 2700Mhz but the sticks were all the same brand size and sent to me at the same time...any thing else will just be hit and miss with those tightly timed boards and will all be trial and error on the users part...it just is that way and 50 of those boards will more than likely show 50 fails when using 4 gigs split between two kits from different manufacturers. Thank you.

Doesn't sound too hopeful. Ugh

Just tried, no good...also tried a clear CMOS and although it then shows signs of life (monitor comes on) it doesn't get past the post screen (acknowledges an error).
