I've just got one of these on the cheap and am thinking of buying a Sempron 64 (E6) to go with it.

If the board has an early BIOS will I be able to flash the board with the above CPU or will I need an earlier revision CPU to do so?

If I can't get my hand on an older chip does the single stick of RAM trick work on DFI boards?

Thanks.

I got this mobo in a second system and I installed a sempron 64 E6 2600 in there and the cpu just comes up as unkown processor. It was an old bios.

I flashed to the latest bios from DFI's site and got a an 720 mhz overclock on the sempron.

Should be fine.Worked for me

Well, I took the (slight) risk and got myself a Sempron 2600+. It booted fine, albeit with some garbled text about a Clawhammer, so I updated to the 623 bios and it recognised the new chip no problem.

Works great, am now clocked at 2.4ghz (300HTT), 2xTwinmos 256mb UTT @2/3 divider, 2-2-2-6 1T, 3.0V. Had to go 1.4v on the CPU and 1.7v on the chipset to get it completely stable though.

I'm sure it will go higher. CPU temps never go above 40C. In fact the CPU fan (original from my X2) doesn't even bother spinning up very often.

Feels quite speedy.
