Just wondering guys is this Passive Zalman cooler good enough to cool the chipset better than the annoying loud windmill cooler that comes with the board....

the zalman cooler is Zm-Nb47j

i have heard that these passive coolers are awsome on these boards but i havent found true facts...
also if possible does anyone have a guide or a picture of a modded one so i know what pins to bend to make it fit with a X1900 in my system....

Why don't you just replace the standard cooler with an "Evercool VC-RE" it's made out of copper so it has excellent cooling & the fan is very quiet. It's the cooler that just about everyone over at DFI-Street use and it's now available in the UK just search google.

Im interested in this too, although with the Evercool, it just seems like another fan that will start to get loud after a while.

My NB fan on my SLI-DR was well quiet at first, as in i couldnt really hear it, but now its bloomin loud

You will have no problem with the Evercool i have had one on my Expert for 7 months and its still quiet.

Thanks guys.

Just ordered the Evercool VC-RE, dam it was hard to find on google lol
then i found a place that has 81 in stock for a very cheap price :)

i hope its better cooling that the previous evercool VGA that i have currently on my chipset called the VC-RD

it was a platinum version where the RE version is a full copper version
the RD version is also a load bloody whining fan on it just like the original chipset cooler i hope this one is better...
