DFI LT X48-T2R Review

at dual prime load im stable for 25 n half hours, no errors. Just put a 60mm akasa fan blowing over the pwm area. Played COD4, 5 mins and locks up . Upon rebooting i check temp in bios and was at 41c.

It crashes at my current overclock, even though prime stable and when at stock

Just noticed you are running a 3870x2. There are known issues between the 3870x2 and the X48 chipset, lockups and reboots being among them. It's not just a DFI issue either, all the different X48 mobos have problems with it of one sort or another. If you have another GPU, try it, just to confirm it is the 3870x2.

How am I an idiot quoting facts ??

It may be that your eyes are bad & you missed the watermarks. If so I apologise.
:D

But if you have the board it's surely easier & quicker to take a picture of your own kit than

luck:)

I say again... You're an Idiot...

I took over 60 images in total when I was doing the review, just happens that the image of the Heat minator didnt come out right, so I looked for another!

HAVE YOU EVEN READ MY REVIEW?... Or are you just bored?..... It took a lot of work, just to have some ****** come along & try & rubbish it!!!

YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN BE A PEDANT!!!

1st Image, I put it forward & I never removed the watermark!!! FACT! & u can see it's a modified Trademarked DFI logo in any case... Hardly property of anyone except DFI!... Like this one:

LANPARTYlogo.jpg

2nd Image... Well, lets face it... It's a picture of the Heat Minator on it's own on a white background, so who gives a ****

END OF DISCUSSION!

Spud reset your system to stock and carry on playing, don't get mad!

No, i mean it crashes at my current overclock which is prime stable and it also crashes when running stock

I read something about this but i thought it was just with Vista or with 64bit operating systems, something along those lines anyway. Im running 32bit XP Pro. Will try my old card tomorrow

Is there a reason to wait for the UT if from what I understand the dirrefence is a funkier and potentially better cooling solution for the power regs?

I use water (only CPU, GPU so far) but I may as well spent the extra to water the whole thing.

Thanks for your help

um...... what are the differences between a picture show and a review, I wish I could see a "review" soon.

/sarcasm mode - You see those black scribbles between the pictures.... thats the review! :p

It does say to stay tuned because more will be added to the review, like a full bios walkthrough (underway) and an Overclocking review (this weekend hopefully)

40C!!! Thats mad at 1.44V through my CPU just idleing im 45C on them and tahts after reseating with new thermal paste! Tho I do have a Q6600 and they say quads are far worse

i dont believe the 40c+ makes it unstable, my pwms are 47c when priming, 25 hours n no errors. Im starting to think its my gpu causing the probs but am yet to have tested it, hopefully get time later

Nor do I Spud, as mine regularly at 60C just gaming, But they will go upto 74C and fail prime if i try and put any more then 1.44V through cpu. So have to be happy with 3.8ghz, which i cant complian at really.

a bit like the availability of your motherboards then

pot calling the kettle ;)

I would have thought that sort of cattiness was beneath you tbh.

This thread does seem to be getting a bit out of hand though. I for one want to know as much as possible about this board, and Monstermunch et al have already pointed out at least four tweaks I wasn't aware of, and my overclock is significantly better as a result. I'm pretty sure knowledge of these settings will be useful on any X48 board that has these adjustments, so can we keep this nice please?

btw, the 3870 and x48 issue is fixed with the 6.4 ATI drivers it seems, spudmaster installed them and has been playing UT3 for 45mins so far with no crash, before it crashed within 10mins each time.

So all of you ati guys update your drivers.

I'm contemplating getting 1 of these boards, wanna know what waterblocks would fit on mofset and northbridge tho, u guys reckon southbridge needs a waterblock or not, the stock heatsink for it doesnt look powerful at all:(

Yeah as clocka says, it looks like my problem with crashing in games was driver related. Running 8.4 cats now and all seems fine, played ut3 and cod4 without issues. Will do more extensive playing tomorrow to confirm though ;)

The southbridge heatsink is only small but it doesnt really get hot :)

have just rush read this thread guys but im wondering are dfi gonna release any nvidia chipset based boards eg 790i if i remeber correctly they made some really good socket 939 nforce 4 boards, when i first joined the forum here i was running an athlon 64 4000 on an msi diamond plus, but i read a lot of threads about dfi sli boards and they seemed to have a good reputation.

Yes, the 790i boards are due very soon, next few weeks IIRC

well after my testing, it did still crash with the 8.4 cats so i put my old card back in and crashing appears to have stopped, wont hold my breath just yet though but so far so good. So looks like compatibility issues with the 3870x2 and the board are to blame

Monstermunch I must say I am curious where you got the board from. I know many of the reviewers here in Europe but I am not familiar with you. In any event please don't worry about the use of the images to much Shanks. We could get into the nitty gritty, fine detail of copyright laws, but lets face it, once it's on the net that all becomes pretty well null and void. The only time a company like DFI will become concerned is when an individual(s), start trying to make some sort of systematic profit using our images in a dubious manner. Envision if you will someone setting up a website to emulate ours, and then ripping all our images to make it appear that they are DFI.

You and I have known one another for a while Shanks and I know you do some good work over at Clunks. If Monstermunch wishes to make some reviews as well, there is no harm in it. Peace gentlemen.
